Why we started “A Day's Hike"
We are a local couple that are avid outdoor enthusiasts and live in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado. Hiking in Colorado is just a few steps out our backdoor and something we don’t take for granted. After being in the market for hiking gear that is not only useful, comfortable and affordable, we decided to share our experiences with different brands and styles of the hiking pack. If you are like us, you probably have a closet full of the “latest and greatest” hiking pack, only to find after a few uses, the one you thought would work, just doesn’t! This is not only expensive, but it is frustrating.

There are literally thousands of hiking packs available for purchase on-line, via mail order, at your local outdoor store and outdoor chain retailers. The question is where does one start when shopping for a hiking pack? The first question you should ask is “who is it for?” Is it for you, your dog, a horse or another packing animal? Once you determine who is going to use it,
the next question is “what is its purpose?” Are you planning on using the hiking pack for a 7 day excursion up Mt. Everest or is it for a local one-day hike? Is it just for over-night camping trips or are you a college student heading home for a long weekend
? These are both key questions and a great place to start when determining your needs in a hiking pack.
As we embark on this journey, we ask that you venture with us as we ascend to the top.
